Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and Project’s planning knowledge area

The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) has categorised the processes of planning into 9 categories. PMBOK  as one of the widely recognized standards for project management profession has listed them as the fundamentals of the planning phase of a project.  Each process should be investigated by project manager  separately.  They are listed below however each part should be explain separately.

    • Develop Project Management Plan.
    • Scope Management.
    • Project Time Management.
    • Cost Management.
    • Quality Management.
    • Human Resource Management.
    • Communication Management.
    • Risk Management.
  • Procurement Management.

Each of which includes several processes and each process has been widely discussed among practitioner. PMBOK has also suggested guidelines and pre-designed form which explain how to plan a project. Therefore, it is crucially important for Project Managers to boost their knowledge in those areas.
